THT - Probiotics & starter cultures

History

THT was set up in 1991 as one of the first spin-offs of the research carried out at the Walloon Centre of Industrial Biology (CWBI).

In 2000, BELDEM Food Ingredients (a subsidiary of the Puratos Group) acquired a stake in the company, paving the way for international distribution of THT’s products.

In 2008, the company moved from its original workshop in Gembloux (Belgium) into brand-new premises with state-of-the-art facilities.

THT was taken over by the Prayon Group in 2009, allowing it to benefit from the expertise and experience of a strong group while retaining complete freedom in commercialising university research.

As a market-driven company, THT is now engaged in a range of client-oriented research to ensure that its customers continue to benefit from the most sophisticated knowledge of the field, backed up by extensive experience.

CWBI

This industrial biology research institute, which currently boasts a collection of more than 3,000 bacterial strains, was jointly established by the Bio-industries Unit of Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech and the Microbial Technology Department of the University of Liège.
